What means to optimize your registry?

What happens if we don't fix registry? The answer we have if we explain what means registry for a computer. Registry is like a catalog which keeps stored information and settings about the hardware and software on that computer. It is typical for Microsoft Windows operating systems. Each time we install a software application, new data is added to our registry. Repeatedly adding or removing software applications results in orphan data left behind. As a consequence, in time registry become unstable and slow down our computer. Therefore we need to perform regularly registry optimization operations. Beware that a non experienced intervention for registry may result in corrupting data and could even completely compromise or crash your system. Fortunately exist good software programs which do not require user experience. Registry optimization tools scan registry and automatically may fix errors and orphan data. Such tools you will find listed in our section "Software utilities for your computer".

Find what you need!

We hope on our site you will  find  what you need, so let us explain what is all about. People buy computers. It is more than a fact that today you may find often 2 or 3 computers under one roof. But do we have all of us the necessary experience to get a computer making the things we need? I suppose at least many of our wives not - please don’t take it personally, my wife doesn’t make a secret she is totally far of any computer related issues. Let’s explain it again. For many people in the world exist Internet, but how many of us are able to access resource pages and to navigate through huge data offered. How many people know that a CD burner helps you record a CD? How many people knows there is a software requested to record something on CD discs? Or let say it different, how many people do you think do not have idea of such things? Check your relatives and you will see we are not exaggerating. Believe us that some of people do not take in consideration they have to buy an antivirus to avoid problems when navigate with confidence on the net. So this is what we are trying to offer. A quite different and easy to understand software guide for everyone. A simply place where everyone could find what need. A place where we explain and make it obvious why someone may need that.  Help us improve and recommend us to other people if you like our content. Send us your comments and let us know why we are wrong if we do or why we have right if it’s that.

What’s a good antivirus? What antivirus is better?

Let’s make it clear. There is no perfect antivirus. There is not a perfect program to protect you against viruses. Around the Internet you will find a lot of comparisons and recommendations. Most of them are good advices but trust us, everybody speak about their own experience. In my case the X antivirus helped me to solve a problem which Y antivirus couldn’t do it. But in your case it might be that exactly the Y antivirus blocked the virus that X antivirus couldn’t do it. No antivirus in the world may cover all known or not viruses. What to do then you will say. It is not such a tragedy as it seems. You have to choose taking some criteria in consideration: price, ease of use, efficiency, PC resource consumption, tools included. Let’s analyze it short. You need an antivirus for protection so your first criteria should be efficiency. Check antivirus comparisons pages and get a clue. Or simply read our recommendations in our security solutions section. Your antivirus should be good to detect and erase viruses but also to block the intrusion of a virus in your computer. A solution including only antivirus cannot block viruses getting in your computer. Therefore you need a firewall too. Firewall is the thing it only stops infiltrating of malicious codes (viruses) in your computer.  The more efficient firewall the better. Therefore you should think of a combo antivirus + firewall. If you will think to purchase separate the antivirus and firewall it may be not the best idea. Separate antivirus will be efficient enough. But most of the standalone firewall solutions are needing user assistance. I met somebody with a firewall installed but the funny thing was that person didn’t have any clue of setting rules for the wall (n.a. firewall). So each time when the firewall asked: The application X wants to run process Y. Should we allow to run process Y?, the answer was Yes. Because user was afraid to say no. It is true that often the firewall cannot automatically differentiate a good process by a bad process. So what to do. We have now really great combo solutions named Internet security software. Kaspersky Internet Security, Eset Internet Security, etc, every time you will see X Internet Security means there we have antivirus and firewall included. The advantages are that the most of Internet security software do not need user experience to handle the rules. Some of great software we recommend are totally “install and forget”. Let’s move forward. Price. Price is important but as long the difference is affordable we would really advice do not let price influence you too much. You can pay 20USD and to regret after or you can pay 50 but to be happy after. So it is not the price but it is the product you are paying for. Resource consumption. This is very important. It doesn't matter how much effective is an antivirus if consumes a lot of your computer resources. If it’s a huge program and it needs computer power, stay as far you can. It will block your continuity in work, you will be not able to do even simple things because of the damn antivirus. A good antivirus you shouldn’t feel it and we have some great proposals. Last comment but with the same importance, analyze the ease of use. Try choose something you do not need experience in setting it up. It has to be intuitive. Means that if sometimes you need to communicate with that program, in emergency cases, you should easily discover how to do it. That’s it? One thing we would like to say to complete our advice. As we said it doesn't exist an antivirus to completely protect you. We wouldn't recommend anti-spyware solutions. Perhaps it will more load your computer than help you indeed. So we recommend you trying to access regularly online antivirus scanners from other producers than the one you have installed. Manually scan your computer and if something will be found then try to Google it. Try to find if it's a false alarm or not. If it's for true then you have a problem, but at least you will know about that.

Dear reader, instead of a forum where you may input your comments or to debate along software related topics, we bring you something different, a web journal. Periodically we will try to discover the web and to bring you posts about interesting topics based on your interests. Direct comments from our visitors will be not possible to submit, but please feel free to contact us if you have something to say. Your comments will be reviewed and it is possible that you will find your comment posted here.
